Seeing an Our Lady Peace reference made me sit up in my chair. That was a note for what... 5 people? I'm floating.

Big time same! I felt like such an outlier in high school because no one else loved all the Canadian bands I did because they didn't watch Much Music lol

Did anyone get a chance to see Two-Man Giant Squid? I loved their album from last year.

We didn't catch them this time :( it was ridiculously hard to plan to see everything we wanted to see

A sharp, useful guide to a daunting festival lineup, and a good reminder that real music discovery still depends on human ears more than algorithms. What I like here is the precision: just enough description to place each band without overexplaining them. A strong piece of curation, and a helpful entry point for anyone looking to find something new without wading through 200 names alone.

Howard, why do you use AI to write your comments?

I mostly dictate my comments and then correct the errors that come with dictation. The response, opinion, and judgment are mine. If I look anything up, it is only to verify a specific reference, either in my own database or online. Sorry if my comment came across the wrong way. I’ll try to be more specific next time.

I generally enjoy posts like yours because I’m always looking for new music. With my dyslexia, I sometimes find this kind of format visually cluttered, so I often use a homemade reader that strips out graphics, embedded links, and other formatting. That may have removed or altered some of the context on my end.

i've just noticed that your comments here (and across other music mags i read) seem like they use AI to generate and that made me curious about why, since i find comments are such a casual, forgiving, and conversational medium. i am always curious as to people's reasons for doing that so i'm just upfront about it. i'm generally very anti-AI but i do know that there are legit reasons to use it in writing and i am trying to understand better when people choose to use it. thanks for humoring me; i didn't take any offense!
