OMG, this is so perfect. đ This album will be in repeat for a long while before it's dethroned by something better. Thank you so much Gabbie! đđ
Seeing as I only use Lawrence of Arabia and Paris is Burning gifs when I do at all, and that you mentioned a one Nina Simone, and voguing, Iâm actually going to check this band out. Gabbie, youâre damn good at what you do
This is one of my favorite records from our now not-so-young century. It made a big critical splash when it first dropped, but hasn't gotten much mention in retrospective looks at the last five, ten, twenty-five years. I don't know why (IT'S INCREDIBLE), but I'm thrilled to see such a thoughtful write-up on it here and now. Thanks!
yes! it was splashy in 2022 from an indie music critic perspective (and as I mentioned I was praising it myself back then) but I haven't heard much about them since. I'm trying to be less single minded about up to the minute new releases because there is so much treasure in the last handful of years!
I bought both Endure and The Passion Of on vinyl on the strength of hearing these guys via Mary Ann Hobbs. There are some terrific remixes too over on Spotify
I don't know what I just listened to but I must listen to more!
unhinged genius

AN HONOR. i am excited to hear what you think.
Love Special Interest - saw them play in Manchesterâs finest, dingiest venue last year and they were wild đ¤đť
they must be insane live!
This album rips, thank you for reminding me about it, I went ahead and actually bought a copy.
hell yeah!
This was a 2022 favorite of mine, too! You describe it perfectly.
i appreciate that!
