Once upon a time not so long ago, I actually intended to have some sort of publication schedule. Part of that schedule involved a monthly playlist called Known Unknowns.
What Was Known Unknowns?
The second Monday of each month, I’d post a 90-minute1 playlist of songs from teeny tiny, unknown artists2. I’d cobble it together from submissions I’d received that month from musicians, random songs I’d discovered through my own listening, and - most importantly - reader recommendations.
The coolest part about Known Unknowns is that it was kind of self-perpetuating. Each time I’d post a playlist of last month’s finds, I’d also ask commenters to give me their latest discoveries so I could generate the following month’s playlist.
I stopped for a few reasons.
First, end-of-year activities (obsessive listening and list-making) got in the way.
Second, I have too much I want to write about, and I only have enough time and energy to crank out about 1.2 art…
