The Best Albums of May 2026
Today, we're doing a show AND tell.
Remember when I complained about how little context release calendars have? And then I made an adorable imaginary info card that I would use in my fantasy new album tracker?
Sorry, I’m not announcing a new website or anything like that — I’m only slightly delusional! But I am going to do a related experiment in this album roundup.
If you like the new format, maybe I’ll keep it up. If you don’t, don’t tell me about it — I accept only compliments, not criticism 🥰.
For newbies, a quick reminder that I tend to ignore most major releases in the so-called “indie mainstream,” (or indeed the actual mainstream) even if I happened to love them. My goal isn’t to put you on the most esoteric music by any means necessary. But you don’t need me to tell you about the new Paul McCartney, Violet Grohl, or Boards of Canada, either.
