Enjoyed reading this, y'all should do a Part 2 after the SICK thing starts up.

One of the things no one ever tells you is that when you start doing something for a living that you started doing for love (e.g. music, writing, etc) your relationship to it changes. Its a hard lesson to learn especially if you really care about what it is you're doing.

Pardon the late reply as I just read this article. As a musician and music fan, I totally relate to the sentiments here. I totally agree music is about community. Back in the day, we'd play shows and go out and support our friends bands and meet touring bands. We were "super connected" (Belly) and built our own scene. I can't say I was ever in the coolest group of bands, especially living in a smaller city. But that community is what I feel like is hard now in my mid 40's because #1 - I moved. #2 - I don't have the time to go out and see local bands and meet them. I still listen to tons of music and use social media to respond to bands I love and support them. I am always very appreciative of anyone that takes the time to listen to our music because I know the value of time.
