Yes, Another Teen Movie (Playlist)!
The playlist you were promised, a record giveaway reminder, and a new listening party to add to your calendar!
Hi! This is one of those pesky posts that has goodies mostly for paid subscribers. I like to routinely remind people who can’t or don’t want to pay but still want to access paid content (who doesn’t?) that there are still cheap or free ways to access that content. To whit:
1) If you refer people to this newsletter, you get comped for a while.
2) You can choose what you pay for a subscription.
3) Times are tough — if you need a comp until things are less terrible, just email me.
Earlier this week, I reimagined a classic ‘90s teen movie soundtrack, but with brand new music to fit all the tropes you know and love.
Yes, Another Teen Movie (Soundtrack)!
Growing up in the ‘90s, I’m not embarrassed to say that movie soundtracks were one of my biggest sources of music discovery.
I also promised you the full soundtrack, in playlist form. Today, I’m delivering on that promise! Because I set goals and then I achieve those goals, goddammit.
But first, please indulge me two quick (very quick, I pinky promise) diversions.
We’re having another listening party!
Stargazr is a new band, but made up of Seattle veterans: Leeni Ramadan (Prom Queen), Bree McKenna (Tacocat, Who Is She?), Natasha El-Sergeny (somesurprises), Billie Bloom (Von Wildenhaus) Aimee Zoe (Sam Russel & the Harborrats) Ahmad Yousefbeigi (The Crown, Yesod).
Join us to listen to their debut record of celestial grunge, and chat with bandleader Leeni Ramadan.
When: Saturday October 18th at 3pm Eastern
Where: The New Bands for Old Heads Discord Server
(Paid subscribers, you’re already in!)
Three more days to win Ela Minus & SASAMI on Vinyl
I wrote about Ela Minus’ new record here, and talked about SASAMI here (though her sound has really changed since her previous release — she’s gone pop, and it’s fantastic!).
All paid subscribers are eligible, but you gotta fill out the form below. It’s easy peasy, I promise.
You’ve been so patient! On to the playlist…
